Agile Workspace Tips for Effective Team Communication

4 min readJan 21, 2025

Agile involves enhancing your shared workspace

This article provides tips to help your team to work in an optimal and collaborative environment. It all has to do with information radiators and osmotic communication.

What is osmotic communication?

Osmotic communication is the spontaneous chatter in workspace. This happens when development teams work together outside of the scrum events. This is why staying together is a good way to keep things lean and reduce organized meetings.

Using information radiators to track your team’s progress

Information radiators are used as a graphical representation of project information typically displayed in plain sight of a shared area. These typically include useful information like:

  • team notes
  • definitions of done
  • task boards (like Kanban)
  • sprint burn downs,
  • and other dashboards.

What are information radiators?

Information radiators can be used to help teams to communicate their progress, status, and issues, and foster transparency and collaboration through their dynamic and near real-time updates (such as task boards, charts, and diagrams).
